I have been on acyclovir and valaciclovir for 5 years and never had any problems with either the way it works or the way I have the pain.

I have been on acyclovir and valaciclovir for 5 years and I have noticed some side effects, but not the full blown insomnia which is not the case. It is not a long term side effect and the side effects do not last long enough. I am not sure if it is related to the side effects, but it seems to be related to my sensitivity to colds and flu.
